چکیده

We construct, for each convex polytope, possibly nonrational and nonsimple, a family of compact spaces that are stratified by quasifolds, i.e. each of these spaces is a collection of quasifolds glued together in an suitable way. A quasifold is a space locally modelled on R k modulo the action of a discrete, possibly infinite, group. The way strata are glued to each other also involves the action of an (infinite) discrete group. Each stratified space is endowed with a symplectic structure and a moment mapping having the property that its image gives the original polytope back. These spaces may be viewed as a natural generalization of symplectic toric varieties to the nonrational setting. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary: 53D05. Nonrational polytopes and compactifications of quasitori

Nonrational nonsimple convex polytopes can be considered in quasilattices. We prove that the corresponding complex quasitori can be compactified by suitably adding smaller dimensional orbits. The final objects, constructed as complex quotients, are spaces stratified by complex quasifolds that perfectly mimic the features of toric varieties associated to rational convex polytopes. 2000 Mathemati...

Entropies from Coarse-graining: Convex Polytopes vs. Ellipsoids

We examine the Boltzmann/Gibbs/Shannon SBGS and the non-additive Havrda-Charvát/Daróczy/Cressie-Read/Tsallis Sq and the Kaniadakis κ-entropy Sκ from the viewpoint of coarse-graining, symplectic capacities and convexity. We argue that the functional form of such entropies can be ascribed to a discordance in phase-space coarse-graining between two generally different approaches: the Euclidean/Rie...

The purpose of this article is to view Penrose rhombus tilings from the perspective of symplectic geometry. We show that each thick rhombus in such a tiling can be naturally associated to a highly singular 4–dimensional compact symplectic space MR, while each thin rhombus can be associated to another such space Mr; both spaces are invariant under the Hamiltonian action of a 2–dimensional quasit...

Symmetrization procedures and convexity in centrally symmetric polytopes

Univariate symmetrization technique has many good properties. In this paper, we adopt the high-dimensional viewpoint, and propose a new symmetrization procedure in arbitrary (convex) polytopes of R with central symmetry. Moreover, the obtained results are used to extend to the arbitrary centrally symmetric polytopes the well-known Hermite-Hadamard inequality for convex functions.

Delzant-type classification of near-symplectic toric 4-manifolds

Delzant’s theorem for symplectic toric manifolds says that there is a one-to-one correspondence between certain convex polytopes in Rn and symplectic toric 2n-manifolds, realized by the image of the moment map. I review proofs of this theorem and the convexity theorem of Atiyah-Guillemin-Sternberg on which it relies. Then, I describe Honda’s results on the local structure of near-symplectic 4-m...
